Starting off 2017 with some chicken
It was chicken night for many of the snakes this evening. There I was, casually tossing chicks at some serpents when I notice this little dry staring me down.. "I don't have anything your size, Miss Dry", I tried to explain. She simply continued to stare, into my very soul, as only a half starved(she ate her fill of ground rabbit, frog and mice Wednesday) colubrid can. What else could I do, I ask you?
I doubt the pit even noticed as it inhaled the, now legless, bird and Miss Dry sure seemed appeased:http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/z...pslxl0ftre.jpg

That finished, I merrily returned to my chick tossing routine. There's Mr. Pappy, intently staring me down.. "No, Mr. Pappy, noo. These are much too small," I cried, "they won't even fill your belly!"
Do you think Mr. Pappy cared? Nope, not one little bit:http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/z...psqwcoxjcu.jpg

She's my little D. m. rubidus, aka mexican cribo, aka mexican indigo. I've had a Drymarchon itch for years but resisted scratching until a few months ago. Another genus that isn't picky about what they shove down their gullet. This girl greedily inhales mice, rabbit(links), frog(links), chicken(new item, legs), and other snakes. Her feed response on the chicken leg and snakes is the strongest by far, followed closely but the frog, then mice. The rabbit she's not as enthusiastic about and occasional eats 1 or 2 when it's on the plate with her preferred items.
When she arrived here, 3 months ago:

Here she is just last week, growing like a weed:

You have some gorgeous animals John! I'd never seen that Mexican Indigo before today. Those colors are amazing! Glad to see your very impressive collection thriving and expanding.

Amazing looking animals there! Congrats. I have a little T.S. Infernalis project working as well. That Mexican Indigo is neat.

How long do the Mexican Indigos grow roughly ??
Do they keep those lovely grey tones and colours ??
