    Thawed by stove water?
So my hot water went out on feeding day for my girl that I've had for 2 years now. And the way I thaw the rats is I put them is hot water for a bit. It would be a few days until I got hot water back so I decided to heat up some water in a pot on the stove (not to the boiling point). She seemed a little weirded out by it but she did eat it. But when it came to the second rat ( I giver her 2) she didn't want it.

It's been 2 weeks since that day and she hasn't eaten anything after that. So I'm wondering if the way I thawed that rat is bad for the snake? She has always been a good eater before this and only missed meals during sheds, and I'm pretty sure that's not the case this time.

As long as the water is about 120 degrees Fahrenheit you should be OK. I also use hot tap water and most hot water heaters are set right around 120.

Well since I have no way of knowing how hot it was, lets say it was hotter then tap water could be( it most likely was) would it be bad for her?
The rat was only warm when I gave it to her.

If it was hot enough to cook the rat it is bad. We have no way of knowing with the limited information available.

You can generally smell it when that water is to hot, it literally smells like cooking rat. But if your hot water issue isn't going away before your next feeding or close to it I would recommend getting a meat thermometer, it doesn't have to be spendy just a little gauge one so you can tell what temp the water is.
