    Switching meal question.....
My fire male bp took about 12 days to feed after I got him. The breeder had just fed him the day before I picked Ra up. He fed fresh rat pups. Ra has a hilarious but voracious feeding response. Elevates the 1st third of his body and has the funniest tail excitement when I introduce his heated meal. He's feeding on p/k or stunned live rat crawlers. I want to switch him to frozen meals. My questions are: do y'all order your frozen and have delivered or store bought, what should I be looking for in meal quality? When would it be safe to try the switch, in your opinions? Also, he acts "hungry" every 3-4 days but on a 5 day schedule. Ra is a very personable snake also. Active, normal shed, correct husbandry, etc...at night, he will hang out of either hide, warm or cool side. Ra also enjoys contact. Really neat that I can lay my hand in his enclosure and he will actually venture out to me hand and arm...I've had him about 5 weeks and he just shed again. I would believe he's comfortable to try a meal switch, just wondering about quality and source for "healthy" meals?!
    Thank y'all and Merry Christmas

I have a local guy I use and buy in bulk, usually twice a year. If I can't get them from him I use Rodentpro and have always been satisfied with them. Even with the price of shipping it is much cheaper than buying them at a local pet store. Plus they don't have all the sizes I need. I have a chest freezer just for my rats.

You can try a different source at any time. If it has a great feed response it probably won't even notice.

5 day plan is fine and good.

I've never purchased from rodent pro but I have heard good thinks the only thing is unless you have a lot of snakes you kinda have a lot of extra food on hand, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. You can generally get them at petco, ug, or look around and see if you happen to have a rat breeder or a local snake breeder that also raises and sells food.

Oh I forgot my main point, I would switch over soon if you plan to feed frozen thawed food. It can be tough but just try a pre killed rat or mouse, and then try a f/t guy on him your next feed.

I'd try to get him on f/t quickly. If he's a good eater he may take them without issue. I order my frozen feeders from Perfect Prey or Big Cheese. I have 8 snakes but even with only one snake you'll save money. I didn't have very good experiences with Rodent Pro. I tried them first but after receiving 2 orders with heavily soiled feeders I made a switch. This is my last order from Perfect Prey.
