Theres a slit on my bps stomache!!!

when i first got my ball python at exotic pets(well known reptile store in ks), i noticed a slight slit about an inch long close to its hips:O:confused:. i didnt pay much attention to it, but lately i've been looking at it and its scaring me more and more. i have know clue what it could be. if you have no clue also, post and i will put a picture of it. plllllllllzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help!!!:O

is it an open wound, how young is the BP? its probly just where it absorbed the yolk from the egg...its near tha anal slit right?

yes it is, its still very young. the reptile store told me that it was born in late may. the slit isnt what worries me so much, its that it makes it to where the scales are seperate. it tried to move backwards and one side got stuck and the other didnt. wooooooooooops sry, its on its belly. sry bout the info loss lol

the wound looks about the same as when i sliced my hand and had to get stitches(except without the stitches).

It's the umbilicus (belly button) from where the yolksac was connected. It will slowly go away, a little bit with each shed.

So don't panic. It's not a wound (anymore than your naval is a wound).

It requires no attention from you other than keeping the enclosure clean.
