Hides making BPs agressive?
So, I was looking into "taming" my BP. Unfortunately, Boudreaux and I are both very skittish. Anywho, I came across this video on youtube where an owner was explaining that her bp had agression issues, until two "experts" advised her to remove the hide. Then, no more problems. She elaborates more on this in the video. I have never heard this before, and I'd love to hear what y'all think about this theory.:snake:

Hides making BPs agressive?
It does kinda makes sense ..... I was told by the breeders of my hatchling Super Dwarf Purple Albino Retic and Dwarf Hypo Burm not to provide hides for them as it can in some instances make 'encourage' them to be a bit defensive . The bloke who sold me my adult Snow Boa said the same thing about the Snow . He doesn't use hides for any of his Boas ... The idea is that it makes them more confident .... It obviously doesn't apply to Royals who apparently spend most of their time down rodent holes in the wild ...

If anyone feels like adding input on this as well ... Boudreaux sometimes feels like he is vibrating when i go to pet him. Like a buzzing feeling. I've heard others talk about it, but what is it!?

Try googling it .... I seem to recall a similar thing happens occasionally when they're on heat mats ....

To avoid taking a bite, you could try using a small hook to lift it out of the enclosure and into your hand. Most will calm down once they are being held. My breeder warned me about how nippy my little guy was, but using this guy's approach (

What an awesome video. I learned so much from it. Thanks a lot!
