Wild baby mouse (quick reply appreciated)
My mom's cocker spaniel brought in a live wild pinky from outside. Can/should I give it to my lactating female mice to raise? Parasites? Would they kill it anyway?

Don't know what to do with it.

From what i've read about wild rats/mice is that you want to be very careful with Parasites and other harmfull things, I'd have to say if you have an established colony of rats/mice then why take the chance of infected the lot. I'd flush that pinky down the toilet.

I would flush it and not take any chances.

In theory though for information purposes... if you made all the babies smell the same by handleing them, she should care for it... then again, if she is picky, she may not care for any of them then.

Turns out it's not a mouse at all, but a mole! I'm hand raising it, and so far so good. It's taking milk from an eyedropper.

    It's kinda cute.

Wow, a baby mole? That's something different to be raising.
I have to admit, I hate moles, but that's just because they have made our lawn horribly bumpy with their tunnels, and that makes it ahrd for me to cut the lawn without risking a lawnmower/me tipover. :)
But your mole could still be cool, as long as it stays off of my lawn. :)

aaaack moles! Ever since old Barney had to be put down, we've had a freakin mole infestation in our yard...guess the old cat was keeping them at bay somewhat. If your mole gets lonely I can ship it some friends LOL.

I think I would be overrun with the little critters except for my cats and dogs. Yes, even my dogs like to play with the little dead moles. I don't know if they take it from the cats when the kitties are tired of playing with them or if the dogs actually catch them. Maybe I'll start a rent a kitty agency. ;) :D

Why flush it even if it was a mouse?? Thats disgusting. I would just put it back outside if it was a pinky, but since its a mole, I guess you don't have to worry about it. Who would flush a mouse?? Thats just wrong...I'm sorry, but it is.

The little mole died. Not sure why.. he ate well and everything.

I would never flush anything alive. I wouldn't put it outside either, that would be cruel.. no way to survive. I'd pop it in the freezer or something. At least it's a quick way to go (if you are a pinky anyway).
