Looking for info on what various genes do...
Is there anything on the net that actually explains what color genes actually do? I have looked at tons of pics on WOB but there really isn't much info there...am looking for something that tells me things like...
    Pastel brightens yellow....
    Albino removes the dark colors...

I know those are very simple examples but I hope they show what I'm going for...and I know there are lots of genes out there but am trying to get an idea of what to aim for if I breed in the future....

There's not a ton out there, but you don't have to look very far to find a good starting point: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/foru...-Python-Morphs. :gj:

The reason this becomes complicated is that there aren't really hard and fast rules - especially when they start getting put together in combos. That's what makes this hobby so much fun. You can picture what a pairing might look like in your head, but until it actually hatches you never really know what you're in for.

LOL, your link is a great starting point...I read through the recessives as well as the dom/co-dom section...and my eyes are bugging! Some are obviously different and I love the comparison photos that include a normal but honestly...some look so similar that I honestly don't know how people tell the morphs apart!

Sometimes it's kinda like the difference between North and South Dakota. Unless you've lived there, they're very easy to get confused. :P

(had to when I saw where you're from - I grew up in SD, still have family there, and my brother and his family live in ND)

LOL, I grew up in WI, moved here about 15 years ago...I know what your getting at though...a lot of it is experience...visually being able to pick out what is different. And there is so much variation even within one morph...I look at pics and go...hmm, that's the same gene?
