Hissing

Weird question, but do balls hiss? When my roommate tries to reach in the vivarium, she swears Pele hisses at her....Is she imagining things or is this possible?

My adult ball does two kinds of hisses. One and the most common is he just takes a big deep breath and you can actually hear a hiss when he lets the air out. The other I've only witnessed twice, is when he is warning me to leave him alone. The piercing stare on my hand and the s-curl his neck made were my ques to leave him alone that day.
