New ball python opening mouth often
Sorry all my posts here are me being stressed, haha. I know this isn't normal behavior, though, so I'm worried. I have a hatching that just arrived today who is adjusting. I'm leaving him alone but can still glance over and see how he is doing. I've caught him opening his mouth a few times ("yawning") which I've heard could be a sign of a RI. Could he just be stressed? Since I did just get him today, should I wait to know I'm not stressing over nothing?

My hot spot is at 90F and my cooler side is at 77F with around 85 in the middle. I am using a UTH with a thermostat as well as a CHE (because the ambient gets a bit cold this time of year). My humidity is a bit low, hovering between 45 and 50% which I plan on addressing after he is more adjusted.

TLDR; Got a ball python today and noticed he opened his mouth in a "yawning" fashion a few times (3 or 4 over the span of an hour or two). Could it be due to the stress of the new home or is it the start of a RI?

They do yawn. They also realign their jaw in a similar manner.

Without any other signs of RI it doesn't sound like much to worry about.

Othen signs being mucus, which could appear as stringy saliva. Raspy or troubled breathing. Laying with their head tilted up toward the ceiling.

Alright, so I'm probably just freaking out :P
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll keep my eye out for other symptoms but let him adjust until I worry too much.
