Spot cleaning.

We feed Sunday nights and both girls have such crazy feed responses that it is sometimes Wednesday before we can even get our hand in the tanks to change water! (Usually, we are good to go by Tuesday night, 48 hrs after a feed, but sometimes it takes until Wednesday.)

We obviously can't put our hands in the tanks during that time, so..... is it safe not to spot clean that long? (Over the past 2 months, Yzma has started peeing every day, so I like to check her hides each night.)

So far, there's not been any scale rot from not being able to spot clean for up to 72 hours....but should I be concerned about that? I'd feel horrible if they got sick because I couldn't get in there to clean up a pee!!!

Are you just interpreting their look/behavior as in feeding mode? I've been around more BPs than I can count and I've always been able to go in there later or the next day if I didn't have time to do it that day and do spot cleaning, and I've been around some intense feeders.

The short answer to your question is a day or two isn't going to hurt.

Your snake will be fine. It will take mor than that to get scale rot.

If you feed on Sunday your snakes should be taking the next two days to digest in their hides. If they are still acting hungry during this time you may need to check the size of your feeders.

They will strike at anything that moves over the 48 hours. If anything, the adults meals are way too big. She's 1652g and her rats are 120 to 150g. She needs to go down to 100g to 120g max. She is packing on weight too fast.

The baby is 179g last weigh in and will be moving to weaned pups once her last 2 fuzzies are gone. (Fuzzies are about 22g to 25g.)

They poop in their hides so while digesting, I have to move the hides to look.

Wow. That's a long time. I usually just leave them completely alone until the next day and it's always been fine. I've even had to go in and scoot her over to a fix a hide that gets flipped over shortly after feeding. I try my best not to hold until 48 hours afterwards but I will always clean up messes as soon as I see them regardless of how much earlier she ate. Never been bit by her.

Right?! I was thinking it was long too!
