Proper Pray Size BRB

I have a 0.0.1 BRB around 3 months of age and weighs 43 grams... Here is a video of it's first feed. Two questions:

1. The snake did not strike, it simply got close and opened its mouth and slowly coiled around it and went to town. (Probably not an issue as long as it eats, correct?)

2. If you can tell on the video, does the pray look like an appropriate size? It looks big passing the mouth and neck but leaves little to no bulge in the body...

That looks like appropriate sized prey. If anything maybe little small based on how fast it was ingested, though the video doesn't show the whole process. My general approach on prey size is this, if the snake can ingest the entire meal from the time it actually starts in less than 5 minutes, I increase size. If it takes more than 15 minutes, I decrease size.

#1 - Snakes often use the least amount of energy required to stalk and kill their prey; it's a survival mechanism. BRB's are also known to eat carrion, so I wouldn't worry that yours snuck up on and wrapped the feeder rather than striking and wrapping.

#2 - BRB's are kept at cooler temperatures than other boas and pythons so they take more time to digest a meal. Too small of a feeder isn't an issue, but too big of one could be. When feeding mine I lean toward the small side. These guys are called 'slender boas' for a reason.

I thought the same thing but Im pretty sure the video was not running at true speed and seemed to be running a bit faster.

agreed, the neck stretch seemed good, no indication something larger is needed.

I couldn't tell due to the coils- what prey size was it? Large fuzzy? I only ask on behalf of mine, which arrived yesterday (woohoo!)
