Does a Ball Python needs 12 hours of total darkeness
I recently got a ball python and its terrariums is at my living room. My family usually goes to bed at midnight, and that's when the lights are turned off, leaving the room totally dark. At 6 pm the sun comes up and room is not dark anymore. I read online that BP need 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness, but mine only gets 6 hours of darkness. I wonder if this is a problem, would it be necessary to move it to another room?

I had a similar setup in the past and never had an issue. As long as you have nice secure hides the snake should be able to get plenty of darkness.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't worry about it. I've always been a little sporadic about turning off the lights for my own BP and so far she hasn't had any problems.
