Mites?

I have a mealworm culture in my reptile room for my geckos and I noticed yesterday that one of the bins was swarming with little white mites. I think they are grain mites?

I cleaned the whole thing up but I'm still noticing a couple here and there. Are these the same kind of mites that can affect snakes? Should I be concerned or will they just die out if there's no grain for them to eat?

Mites are species specific.

Remember that mites live as parasites, so they will be eating and taking advantage of their host. There are thousands of types of mites, but I would make sure that none could make it to the snakes or geckos, I keep my mealworms in the garage, or you can keep them outside if the weather lets you

White mites are not snake mites and they do not feed on blood of cold blooded animals, so no they will not take advantage of the snake or gecko if that is what you mean and pose no threat.

as there are a lot of mites what I meant was that I wouldnt take chances :)
