I've seen mention of insulating a glass enclosure. Mine isn't and I seem to do okay, but I'm curious as to what people have used.

Anyone insulate, and if so, how?

I added thick art paper to the outside back and sides. This raised my temps a couple degrees.

I do foil and it works well. Almost too well some days.

When my bp was in a glass tank, I had foam wrapped around it, including the bottom. I just used some stuff I had lying around, but it worked until he outgrew the tank. He's in a PVC enclosure now, but my house still gets down to 55° or so at times, so even the PVC has quilt-type panels around the sides and the top.

If I were going to do a more permanent job of insulating a tank, I'd use foam insulation board. That's what it's for, after all. You can cut it neatly and fit it neatly, and cover or paint it so it looks nice.

I'm on a reflectix kick, currently. It works really well. Just covering a portion of the screen top goes a long way, and if you insulated the sides as well you could practically create a mini sauna haha. It's in the insulation section of most home improvement stores.

I see so many instances where someone's said that you can't get the heat high enough in a glass Viv ....

Just need to use some of the above mentioned tips and see what works in your situation .

I used some foam board from hobby lobby to block out the sides. You can get in 1/4" and ya can get it in a rainbow of colors. Just use some double sided tape and cut to size.
