Housing size for breeding question
Hi there, we have a pair of ball pythons we are considering breeding next year. Our female is 3 years old and 2000 grams and our male is also 3 years old and not far behind her. We have our male in a rack system with our other younger ball pythons. The female we are wanting to breed is currently in a 40-gallon breeder tank. We have been reluctant to move her to a bin because she appears to really like her tank. Is it possible for her to breed in her 40 gallon tank and successfully lay her clutch? Or is it easier for us to get her acquainted with a 41 quart tub before attempting to breed? Does it matter?
Re: Housing size for breeding question
Yes it is possible not as private but possible and the privacy issue can be fixed by blocking out 3 sides. I would not recommend changing enclosure right before or during breeding, this could affect your season. Animals that move during that time even sometime from one room to another or one enclosure to another will not breed.
