    Tub with UTH on carpet?
    Is that safe?

To be completely honest, I've had it like this before for a week at a time and nothing happened, but I'd like to be sure that it won't one day catch fire or something.

I think I already know the answer, but I don't want to have a hideous tub with wires and holes sticking out like a sore thumb in my nice minimalist bedroom.

I keep picturing putting the tub on a smooth slab of wood or something but I have no idea where to get something like that. I am properly embarrassed at having to ask this, but do you just ask the Home Depot people to make you one?

Any other suggestions? I live with people who don't really care for snakes, much, so she stays in my room. Not that they hate her or anything. They just wouldn't let me keep her in the living room or something.

A simple fix get a piece of 1/4 plywood and tape your UTH on it. (just go to Home depot or Lowes)

Even if it does not cause fire over time your carpet will change color in that spot.

Yeah the carpet is a potential problem.
