Internaitonal Travel with a BP?

Within the next year I will be moving from the US to Germany. I have only one BP and would like to take her with... if that's even possible? Has anyone ever traveled with snake and what was required to get them through the airports and legally into the country?

To do it legally you will have to go through an exporter most likely. I know that's how you have to do it to go from Europe to the USA. Each country is different, but you can't just ship it yourself or take it on the plane...legally....I stuffed my snake in a pillow case into my shirt when I flew domestic once (pre 9/11).

It will need to be shipped and between paperwork and shipping it will run you about $1000

And obviously you will need to find someone that does export.

A good friend of mine moved to Switzerland with her tortoise, and got him a pet passport to do it. Or was complicated and took awhile, but she did it. It should be a little simpler with a bp because unless it's a bel or something it has obviously unique markings - my friend has to paint an indelible on her tortoise's shell that could be identified by in order to get the passport.
She flew with him, but he still to be"checked" - the airline wouldn't allow him as carry on. If you do that, the animal still should be packed as for shipping, with heat/cooling packs as appropriate, but should be out of your control for hopefully a lot less time.

No it's not simpler it's a lot more complicated and expensive, BP require CITES so it's a different ball game.

Again $1000 between paperwork and shipping and it must be done by someone with experience (exporter)

Exactly this. Also similar fees and paperwork will be required to bring the snake back into the US.

I would rehome it and get another one in Germany, unless you don't plan to be there longer than a year or so.

Deb nailed the cost and difficulty of pet export. It isn't all that much more to export 10 or even 50 animals, when you average out cost per animal. But single animal export is indeed very expensive.

It is still done by some owners.

Yea, it's very costly and depending on the price point of your animal it may or may not be worth it. I would find somebody in the US that may be attending the show in Hamm, Germany. This is assuming they are going to have one in 2017. That would likely be your best bet.
