the mouth movement?

ok well this mornign around 9:50 i killed a mouse and tried feeding my new snake that i got last sunday witch i know was stupid because i have only had him 5 days but i thought it was worth a try and when i went to pick him up the snake moved its head toward me really slowly and opend its mouth but didnt strike at me and i think he smelt the dead mouse i am not sure. but it freaked me out i dont think i am afraid of being bit by my snake its the fact that i just dont want my snakes gettign a habit of biting but i just looked in the cage and the snake is moving away from it i dont know what to do this snake is confusing me? do you think he isnt hungry?

are you using your hand to hold the mouse? If so, I would suggest getting a pair of tong or hemostats to hold the tail to avoid accidental bites. Maybe he was just yawning, turn off the lights and let the snake relax...give it a few hours and see what happens....

no problem. When I feed p/k or f/t prey, I usually attempt a tong feeding for a few minutes or so. If the bp does not take it, I set the mouse in the enclosure, turn the lights out and wait for a few hours. That has always done the trick for me. Let us know if everything goes ok.

wow that snake loved the hopper once he found it and positioned it in the right place he got that hopper down easy and i whatched him for a good ten minute and he was done and i was happy and yeah dangit i had to feed him in his encloser and that i didnt liek tho.but he ate so i am happy adn i dont have to bug him till monday lol and i cant feed ,my other rtb till he sheds but i might have to try before hand.

Feeding in the enclosure is not bad at all if you open the enclosure for things other than feeding quite often. If you ONLY opened it up to feed, then there is a high chance that the association between opening and food can be made. Feeding in the enclosure usually makes the animal feel alot more secure. I feed my bps in their enclosures and have never had a problem.
