    Male BP wrapping water bowl?
Just checked on my snakes, and I noticed my male was all balled up but upon closer inspection I realized he was coiled in/around his water bowl. His cool side is at 78 and his hot is at 86. A little low I know but it's cold and raining here today. His humidity is at 70%, a little higher than usual but probably because of the rain. Anybody think it's odd that he was trying to ball up in his bowl? He's never done it before. He also hissed when I tried to move him so I could check if he had water. He sometimes hisses when I go to pick him up but is then fine, but he kept hissing every time I tried so after a few attempts I just left him alone.

Leaving them alone when they hiss tells them that behavior will grant them solitude and you will just leave. I recommend not doing that. That behavior can't be tolerated.

As for the wrapping, not really sure. Is he going into shed? Does he have issues shedding normally?

Usually when he hisses I pick him up anyway and he's fine. He hasn't had a shed in a month or so, that was what I was thinking as well. I've just never seen him attempt to soak before a shed, and his humidity is more than enough to accommodate a shed. He usually has pretty good sheds.

You suuuuuuuure it's a male? I've never heard of males bowl wrapping and don't see why one would unless he were overheated, and your temps don't sound hot enough for that to happen easily.

Females will often cool seek and bowl wrap during follicular growth, just prior to ovulation.

I'd just assume snakes do weird things. Some have quirks, maybe he feels secure wrapped when wrapped tightly around the water bowl.
