Spyder Robotics (Herpstat)
As if we need another good guy story about them, I'll share mine. Doing my reptile room, I wanted to put in a fan that sucks in air from the house, in case of overheating. There are plenty of line thermostats (the type herpstats are) that will do the job more or less, but they are generally cheap components with no back up protections or alarms. So I just planned on using my herpstats cooling feature for the first time. As you know most herpstats are made to sit on top of a shelf of some sort, which really doesn't fit my application. They also sell a module that lets you hook up a normal thermostat, which would be neat, given I could use a nest or something to gain all the features I want, but it is a little more money than I was hoping to spend. There are the intros that flush mount, which I could make work. It turns out the intros, being the cut down version they are, do not include the hardly used cooling function. I understand as it is meant to be minimalist but work for majority of people. So before I went out and bought a power module and a thermostat I reached out to them.
I explained what I was doing and why. They were kind enough to let me send back an intro and have it reprogrammed to include the cooling function. I think it rare to find a company that will write custom firmware for their products just for one customer on a sale they already made. So thank you Spyder Robotics.

Re: Spyder Robotics (Herpstat)
That's next level right there. When I get to that level, I'll make sure to keep this post in mind. I love to work with companies that love to work for their customers.

That is really cool. Can't wait to see the finished product. ... can you explain a little more on what exactly you're powering with the one herpstat?

It's a through wall fan. So if the temp gets above a set point it will suck air out of the utility room and blow it into the reptile room.
