Shedding problems

I need help. It has been 3-4weeks since my 4 month old ball python started to shed. She had gotten it off the bottom half of her body but has yet to get it off her head and neck. I think I have an issue with humidity but I don't know the best way to keep it up. I spray her tank every day. I've tried to give her a bath when it first started but her head went under water and inhaled some water so I'm scared to try that again. I'll even buy a humidifier if I have to. Any suggestions please!

I'd try the bath again but not so deep. Maybe an inch.

What is your humidity and what substrate do you use? Can you provide details of your setup?

Place a clump of damp moss in each hide.

Keep it damp during a shed and allow it to dry out between wetting during non shed periods. Its cheap and easy and works like a charm.

Since the snake stays in the hide the majority of the time the damp moss gives the snake a constant humidity boost right where it needs it.


If you soak again the water should not come up higher than 3/4 of the snake's side.

I always put the moss outside the door of the hides and throughout the tank, because I'm afraid sitting against damp/wet moss will cause scale rot. Am I wrong?

If you live in a area that isn't really humid the best way is to do like KMG pointed out with moss. You can try to change the bedding as well, though I'm not sure what you're currently using.

Any updates? Did you soak it again? Make sure you give it a good long soak. Like 30 minutes. It should all come right off... if I have to soak a snake, I put a washcloth in the tub with it so it can rub on it.
