Question from a newbie about poop

I was recently given a ball python. I was told he/she was around 5 yrs old. He/she is just a bit over 3 ft long. He was feed by my friend on June 24th. I know he/she will at some point poop. My question is, what does snake poo look like? Last night I found a smallish, white goo-ball. I'm not sure what it was but I removed it immediately. Oh also, how long after they poop should they be feed again? My friend told me to feed every other week, but everything I've been reading says different.

Snake poo generally looks like cat poo....little brown logs depending on the size of your snake. The white stuff is urates, (urine equivalent in snakes). They excrete a solid urate to better conserve water. They are efficient little critters! Don't worry about feeding around their poop cycle. They'll go when they need to go. Mine usually every 3 weeks or so, but a little longer now since I've started on rats. Make sure to keep a record of everytime you feed, see BM's, and sheds. This will help you know if they are normal for them. Don't stress about their pooing. They will usually leave a load right after a shed.

What was being fed every other week? Mouse? Small Rat?

We have had our Ozzy for about a month now , apart from a short time he seemed to be attacking me and not his prey , hes as good as gold , handled him last night seemed to be happy , the reason ive posted on this thread is hes not had a poop or shed in the time we have had him , i daresay he must be close , but hes had three feeds and no poop , im sure he will go when he wants , just need reassurance that its ok ,.

It'll be fine. Mine's gone a couple months without pooping now, and he's still feeding and going about his business no problem. If you're worried, give your guy a warm soak and see if that gets things moving. 3 feeds without a poop is nothing though.

My snake tends to 'go' after a shed, or if you put it in water like stated above, it might work also. After soaking try holding the snake and rubbing around 'that general area' My ball tends to 'go' when that happens to her. <_<

I have a question as well about this topic. I have not noticed any Poop in my BP's tank, but I have noticed two small almost green powdery things. Is that the urates. By the way they are not real green, but almost like a faint lime green. Very lightly colored, almost pastell. If it ain't the urates, what is it and should I be concerned?

Well since I'm a computer idiot and can't figure out how to put pics in this thread of normal ball python feces and urates can someone who knows how to do this, please do so. It may be gross but in the end seeing is believing and may help the newer owners identify correctly and also know if what they are seeing is in the "normal" range.

Our snake has gone 3 feedings between pooping, tho passes urates more frequently. Of course she waited for me to post my concern that she wasn't pooping and then immediately thereafter dropped a huge stinker (can a snake really have a "geesh lady gimme a minute over here!" look? LOL)
