What is my boa and clicking noise normal?
Hello I made a post the other day asking what type of boa I had I got told it was a hypo boa het albhino but also today I got her out of her viv and I heard clicking so I put her to my ear and it was her but there is no bubbling or gunk in her mouth I checked for possible ri I got vets booked Monday but does anyone else know what this could be ??
Here are some pictures of my baby if anyone can tell me what she is "normal" salmon etc. thanks

Re: What is my boa and clicking noise normal?
Now I've read of something similar a while ago ...
There have been cases of snakes making the noise you described and the owners incorrectly presumed it was a RI when in some cases it was small bits of substrate in the nostrils or mouth/ throat .... that's all I can remember ... What kind of substrate are you using ?? Does it sound feasible in this case maybe ??
I know some snakes go tunnelling through and under the substrate especially when they're trying to rub the old skin off and that would explain how the substrate gets in there ..
It's just an idea .

I use aspen but I have never seen her burrow but I cannot be sure I just wanted to make sure that it isn't nothing stupid before I pay to go vets but I will definitely take what you said and have a look at how she houses and also do you know what type she is *hypo etc?
Re: What is my boa and clicking noise normal?
I'd say it's either an obstruction caused by substrate or it's an RI. Not much else it could be.

Well I'm pretty certain that it was ASPEN that was me mentioned in that article I referred to .... it is nasty stuff in my view , don't like anything about it myself but that's a personal opinion , some people love the stuff ...
Sorry no idea about the Boa , my interests lie in Snows , SunGlows and Pastel Motley Albinos only ...

I can see what would make someone think it was hypo. The pictures aren't great, but the saddles look a little "reddish" like a hypo, with less black around the tail.
Need pics in natural light to be sure though.
As for the wheezing/clicking - don't jump to the absolute worst conclusions first. I used to have a boa that wheezed all the time. She had a kinked spine and the vet explained that because of the way she lay, she would wheeze. I've had other snakes wheeze or click, and then exhibit no other issues ever.
If it persists or gets worse, take it to the vet. Just keep an eye on him for now and make sure your husbandry is spot on.
