    Feeding Juvenile Dumerils Boa
I have a 3 month old that I got last weekend. I tried feeding a f/t hopper mouse, which is what he was eating, on Thurs but he refused. Do you think it's too soon to try again (it's been 3 days)?

I'd wait 1 week before trying again. You don't want to stress him any more by offering him food repeatedly. Does he cruise around at night? I kind of know when Luna is hungry because she will cruise all over and climb her vines and hides and stare at her water in the water dish lol....but then again she does that 3 days after eating. Also i'm assuming you are warming it plenty and do all the "right" stuff? Some are just more picky than others. My JCP has gotten lazy and no longer grabs her mice from the air. I have to rub them on her body, then she goes bananas and grabs it and wraps it up lol.

He's actually been pretty lazy. He moves, I just never see him actually moving. But an hour ago I looked in and he was pushing on the top of his tub trying to escape. I know the standard wait time for BPs is a week, wasn't sure if it was different for young boas.

Some are just more outgoing than others. Luna ate the day after I got her and seems to actually likes to come out and hang out on me lol. Just give the little guy a few days and try and again or leave it over night. And since I got a camera now, I can photo bomb peoples threads mwahahaha!!!

I like Luna! I have been craving a Dumerils for a few years now. I'm still trying
to hold off until all my snakes have PVC homes and are in one room. Then I'll
see if I really have room for more.

Please photobomb threads! Threads without photos are not as interesting! :)

With boas you don't want to feed more frequently than once a week. The guideline is every 7-10 days until they reach a year old, and then bump feedings to every two weeks once they hit a year. I think with a large enough meal, you can push feedings to once every 4-6 weeks once they're adults (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Their metabolisms are slower than a ball python's, so they don't need to eat as often. As long as you're feeding appropriately sized meals, once a week should be perfect :gj:

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing. The issue is he hasn't taken a meal since I got him and am wondering how long to wait to wait to try again.

I tjink the general rule is to wait at least 4/5 days between refused feedings

Whoops, sorry! I agree with what others have said - wait at least 4-5 days. When I have one that doesn't eat, I don't usually offer again until the next week, to keep everyone on the same schedule. That also makes it a little more likely that they'll eat, since they'll be a bit hungrier.
