Humidity help

I cant get the humidity higher than 45% in a 40 gal tank

ive put water right under the light which raised it about 5-10%
and ive covered up the top of the screen which also helped the heat
and misting the tank only keeps the humidity higher for about 15-20 minutes I cant spend the whole day misting the tank!

I used to have problems with the humidity too high and everything Ive tried just isnt working out-- I need more tips plz

What did you cover the screen with? How (what portion is covered etc)?

Do you also use a UTH? How necessary is the light in your setup?

i am having great success with a fish tank pump. I place the hose in teh water dish and i keep the pump outside the tank so u will have to drill a hole or make a hole in the top of your tank to get the hose in. i place the pump on a seperate shelf from my tank because it vibrates and i place it on a small towel to help dampen the vibrating and noise. this way i dont hear it, and i my snake dont feal it because its on a seperate shielf. i also added a timer so i can set as needed. a dimmer is also an option. i also have a heat lamp for my primary source of heat and it does suck the humidity out but the pump keeps up with it and my % is always were it should be.

I dont have any UV lights on her tank all shes ever had is one heat bulb and I open the curtains every morning to have some natural light

makeeda has always been really healthy even when shes had low humidity
but I dont want it to be like that forever in case something does happen from it. but i cover the top 2/3's of the tank with a plastic lid to a laundry hamper...it fits perfect on the 2/3's and the other approx. 1/3 is covered up by her heat light

You could always make a humid hide for the enclosure. All you need is a cheap hide size rubbermaid container and some damp paper towels and you are set to go.

I made the homemade humidifier in the DIY section and it brought my humidity up to 53 - 57%. It confussed me a bit when it got to step 5. It says the hose that sticks thru 1 1/2 inches is the one the connects to the pumps but that not right. The longer hose that goes to the bottom of the bottle with the air stone is the pump one. I spent about $25 for everything. I used a different bottle but it works.
