Keeping the Thermometer Probe in Place

I am having trouble keeping my thermometer probe in place. I soldered a hole in the back corner to run my probe in from the other side so I wouldnt have wires inside the enclosure. But my bp keeps digging out the substrate in the corner where I made the hole and pulls the wire which displaces the probe. Should I somehow fill this hole so he won't keep digging it out? Has anybody else had this problem and have any solutions? Below are some pictures of the enclosure and the spot he keeps messing up. Solution: Infrared Thermometer :)

You could use a hot glue gun to keep it in place.

Never hot glue the snake to keep it away from the probe!😝

Ah come on now. A bead or two across the tail. You could totally keep them away from the probe!

I can't see the pictures. What type of thermometer? My acurite probes have a small hole so you can screw them in place. Haven't had them move ever, but the snakes do mess with the hole at the back of the cage where the wire enters

Pretty much same as Eric said, I just use an IR gun to check. I have the thermometer unit inside the cage in the corner but that's mostly just to monitor ambient temps and humidity. I run all my AP cages with flexwatt and Herpstats. Don't use any tubs

So what IR gun do you guys use? And so it is ok to hot glue the probe down inside the enclosure?

Yep. You can def hot glue the probe to the floor of the enclosure.

Hopefully this isn't opening another can of worms but I often see people suggestion that you HAVE to get a good one costing £70 or even more yet I bought a couple off eBay £9 each inc postage !

Both work great and just one degree difference between them - that's more than accurate enough I feel . They even have laser sights .
