What does it mean if my bp is het albino/ het toffee?
I just got my first ball python a few days ago, it says she is het albino/ het toffee, I am new to snake genetics, does this mean her parents were an albino and a toffee or she just carries a gene for it, could she produce any of these traits when bred? She is my pet, but I think it would be cool to breed her one day, It would help a lot since I can't find much info on toffees.

If she is definitely het albino and het toffee it means she carries those genes. However, since those are both recessive genes, she only carries them and does not display them. She would have to be bred to another snake that also carries those genes in order to produce offspring that display the gene.

Thank you so much! I wanted to make sure, if she was bred to another het albino would there be a chance of an albino? Sorry for asking, I'm really new to this.

If bred to a het albino, the statistics would be 25% normal, 50% het albino and 25% albino. And then of course since yours is het toffee, there's a chance the offspring would be het as well, but the only way to find out would be through breeding the offspring.

If you go to worldofballpythons.com, they have a genetic wizard that allows you to enter what the male and female are and it will display all the possibilities for the offspring.

Um.. that's actually wrong. Your snake is a 'Toffino'. Normally two recessive would not be a visual and would look like a normal morph but these two are 'allelic' and your snake should look similar to an albino. You should post a photo.

Wow, I blew that one! Thanks for the correction. Guess I should have taken my own advice and plugged it into the genetic wizard.

If those genes are allelic, I'd assume one of the parents was a toffino, so she's for sure het in one or the other? I know my cornsnake is like that for one het that he has.
