Kiln Dried Pine?

Now, I use cypress mulch for my Pandy and always will :/ But I hear a lot of differing opinions when it comes to pine? Some say it's harmless, some say it's evil evil stay away omg noooo :omg:

I eventually want to get more snakes, and aspen is just...wow amounts of expensive where I live. Is the kiln dried pine really that bad, or is it okay? :confusd:

I've heard pine is actually okay for snakes and rats alike.

Even if the kiln drying actually gets rid of all the toxic pine oils, I bet it would suck just as much for humidity as aspen.

For rodents its okay.
Aspen is usually cheapest at feed stores.

I wouldn't use Pine, and Aspen isn't really expensive if you grab it online.

Kiln dried pine is just fine for my BPs and rats alike. No issues using flake at all and it's HALF the price of aspen at Tractor Supply. The old pine flake was not kiln dried and the pine resins were harmful somewhat.

Now pine is no better than aspen as far as humidity though. For me, my normal humidity is quite high(Florida YAY!) and so it is not an issue. If I use something like cypress, it's too humid in fact. But for most areas, the pine/aspen may not be a good choice, so if you try it, be sure to check your humidity levels often.
