    Western Hognose Feeding Questions
Alright so I'm getting into hognoses. I have a couple of questions. Is feeding one time a week enough for them? Also, does the rule of "dont handle after feeding" still apply to them as with balls? If so, how many days/hours do I leave him alone? Thanks!

The main mistake with hognose is that people will under feed hatchlings not realizing that they have a fast metabolism and that at first the prey offered is not very meaningful.

Hatchling should be fed every 3 to 5 days, once they reach a year old every 5 days and adults can be fed every 7 days.

You can expect an hatchling to reach 50 to 100 grams in his first year depending on the sex, sadly you often see 1 or 2 years old weighing in at 25 grams instead.

All my hatchlings from this year are already nearing 20 grams simply by being properly fed.

Yes you want to give them at least 24 hours to digest for the same reason of possible regurgitation.

Feeding depends on the age of the hoggie. I fed my baby every 3 to 4 days, and now that she's putting on some size, every 5 to 6. I apply the "don't handle after feeding" rule to every snake regardless of the species to avoid regurge events. I generally wait 48 hours with my hoggie.
