    Kingsnakes VS Hoggies
I'm currently In a debate with myself on whether to get a grey banded kingsnake, or a western hognose. I love both! However, I can't decide. Can someone give me a good comparison of both? Like behavior, and such. Only thing I'm concerned about the hoggie is that the one I'm interested In Is a male, and I've heard that males usually have feeding problems. Thanks! if you own both a king and hoggie please answer and give me your thoughts!!!:gj:

The toughest part with kings in general is that the first year they might be wild and musk, usually they calm down by a year sometime sooner.

With hogs you do not deal with musking issues.

Kings are garbage disposal so are hogs however male hogs will tend to go off feed.

After that it's a matter of size male hogs do not get very big 150 grams, 200 grams at the very most, females however do get bigger 400/600 grams.

They both great snakes it depends on your expectations the king bitty and musking part can get old fast for some people.

My male Hog eats like a garbage disposal! He's my favorite snake, love his hissy behavior and his snout. I can't say enough great things about hognose! In the winter time he doesn't eat but that's cause he bruminates (which is nice because then he's easy care).

I got both of these guys in May and I love them both. They both eat great and give me no problems, except my hog always bites my finger tips!!!

Both are great choices, but I'm not a fan of hognose, purely preference. So I would be biased and say get the king.

not sure if you have to brumate hogs but it seems like a crucial step for successful breeding. I'm on the fence too but my girl wants a western hog and i like the malagasy golden hognose, similar yet different but i think its kind of a middle ground between a Kingsnake and a western hognose purley based on appearance. Might want to look into those . Kingsnakes seem like they are easier to take care of but that is my speculation.
