    Identify Garter Snake
I picked this guy up at a show last month, but think he was mislabeled. Can someone identify what type of Garter snake he/she is?

I posted on another forum and it was identified as a Wandering Garter Snake (Thamnophis elegans vagrans). He was labeled as a Mountain Garter but doesn't look anything like that.

Definitely a wandering garter with anerythrystic coloration. Thus, anerythrystic wandering garter snake. Nice looking animal.

Thanks for confirming! It's neat to watch him as he grows - he's gotten even whiter. Not to mention the neat contrast between his black head and lighter colored body.

Beautiful guy. I still want to get some, but we are out of space for display enclosures until we move next year. REALLY out of space...we recently bought a piano!
