Red Streak on BP belly

I do not see a way to upload a pic, but our Genetic Stripe BP has a 3 inch red streak developing on her belly. Just under one year old. Clean and dry habitat that is cleaned weekly. We use paper as substrate. Breeder said it is likely belly rot and expects it will go away after next shed. It looks deeper than that. Usually poops small white pellet, but a few times recently she has produced a large black stool larger than the mini poodle we babysit for produces. She sheds well on her own and has a large water bowl. Not sure if we should be concerned, yet. I thought it would be a good idea to get ahead of this in case we need to address this sooner rather than later. Thank you in advance for any assistance with Sid or posting a picture of her belly.

What is your heat source? If you're using a heat pad without a thermostat it could be a burn.

We have a heat pad/tape stuck to bottom of enclosure. She spends most of the the day under her half log over pad. Enclosure is at 80 degrees. Humidity about 70%.

So no thermostat? It sounds like it's probably a burn, then.

Thermostat indicates 80°. Am I missing something? She has lived here all of this year with no changes. I appreciate any input. I will upload a pic tomorrow. Thank you.

A thermometer measure temperatures

Which do you have?

What type of thermometer do you have if you have one and where do you measure your temps?

Temps should be measured right above the substrate with a DIGITAL thermometer, cool side should be 78/80 and hot spot should be 88/90.

A thermometer takes the temperature, a thermostat regulates the heat mat to make sure it does not get too hot. It's possible to go a long time without issues with an unregulated heat pad, so it's definitely possible that this is a burn.

The probe for the thermostat goes between the heat pad and the bottom of the tank, the thermostat is then set for the appropriate temperature (88, 89, 90, etc.) which keeps the heat pad at that temperature. If you don't have a thermostat you should unplug your heat pad and purchase, at the very least, a dimmer.
