PSA: Petco Dollar Per Gallon Sale On Now.

I popped into petco today and noticed that petco's dollar per gallon sale is on now.

I ended up impulse buying a 40 gal breeder ^_^

Nice to know, though I'm curious how much it'll save you versus actually buying from another place that doesn't hike up prices.

There's a petstore that doesn't hike up prices? Lol the big box places beat the small mom and pop places every single time around here. Big boxes have theirs normally at $90 the LFS at $110.

I keep a notification up on craigslist for used tanks. I rarely see 40g breeders posted and if I do they are normally priced in the $50 - $75 range. So $45 for a brand spanking new tank males me all giddy inside.

The tropical fish communities I'm part of wait all year for this sale. Not great if you want a small tank but if you are looking for 40 or 55 gals...

Well all of them likely raise the prices, but they have some that don't do it to the same extreme. That sounds like a good price though.

I'll do my example:

50 gal tank heater pet smart = $54.99, their website 49.99
bigappleherp(not sure if they have an actual store or not) = 24.99

Now I have a mom and pop local store that is $28.99.

That's all I was curious about, now they do sales with that 54.99 UTH and they'll list it at 44.99, but that's still very steep.

With most dry goods you have the option of shopping online for the best prices. And some mom and pop shops competing with that.

But tanks are problematic to ship. Big. Heavy. Glass. Deals on them are hard to come by. Can't really beat the once or twice a year petco one.

Thanks for this! I had no idea about this sale. I rarely go into stores like Petco because the prices are usually a lot higher than the non chain stores in the area. But this is awesome

This thread started a few weeks ago and these sales only about two weeks, might want to call first and confirm the sale.
