Little Black Bugs With Wings In Substrate
    Hello!
I keep 2 ball pythons, a male Bengal Pastel and a Normal Female.
I have been finding little black bugs with wings in their substrate. I know they are not mites because they have wings and can fly, and only a few have appeared. I don't know what they are and am confused. I have been keeping ball pythons for 3-4 years, and have never seen them before.

    Any ideas what they are?

If someone could answer soon that would be awesome!
You can find me on Instagram @snake.pics

    Thanks!

Pictures would help but my guess is male termites just off that description.

gnats? really sounds like gnats. and they may be attracted to feces if the cage hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in a while/ substrate changed out.

    mites, gnats, fruitflies
    pics will help IMMENSELY
no matter what they are, substrate change and cage/enclosure clean for sure

    *future precautions
if able to, try storing your substrate in your freezer for at least a week before using it.
the freezing will help kill MOST insects that could be dormant in the substrate
