    Retained Eye Cap?
Just had my guy out and noted that his eye had an odd crinkle to it. I can see a little stuck shed on his head near the eye but hadn't noticed his eye before now. Sorry for the poor photo, but is this a retained cap? Is there anything I should do or just keep the humidity up and allow him to shed it next time? His last shed was about 2 weeks ago.

Honestly I'd say it's more likely to just be from lower humidity levels. I've seen this before when I kept mine in a tank. Misted the substrate and it came back pretty quickly.

Is your snake having solid sheds, or are they coming off in pieces?

His last shed was all clumped up but seemed to be one piece. He somehow got it all off inside of his hide. What do you mean by you misted and it came back quickly? A retained cap or you think it's something else?

The dent in the eye, in my situation, was due to too low of a humidity. I misted the cage to raise the humidity and his eye went back to normal.

If it is a retained eye cap, it should come off next shed.

ive always gave my normal BP a bath and them gently rubbed the eye cap off...

he was a horrible shedder until I realized humidity was the issue and not just him animalally.

    he is almost 12 now

I would say it is retained skin. You can see a line where the skin is new behind the head and where the skin is old going toward the nose. You might want to read up on bad sheds in the sticky area and hopefully some of the old pros on here can tell you whether you should give your snake a warm water bath or not.

Mine has shed completely before, eye caps and all and still had the dents in his eye....I just misted down his tank to raise the humidity and then I gave him a quick soak in a bath and his eye was back to normal. I have been told its a sign of dehydration. :)

Thanks, everyone. I had him out last night and his eye looked perfectly fine. Seems humidity was the issue. I've been misting a little more often.

I was going to say it looked like a humidity issue. I have seen that with mine b4 and bumped up humidity and it went away.
