Setting up a new rack/rubbermaid question
Is this about right for tub sizes/bp length housing in a rack setup?

    Length over 4' - 33 X 16 X 6
    Length between 2.5' and 4' - 22 X 16 X 6
    Length below 2.5' - 16 X 11 X 6

I am working on plans for a new rack and was trying to figure out what size tubs to include and how many of each. I would like to include large tubs and small tubs all in one rack. I was thinking....

    4- 33 x 16 x 6
    2- 22 x 16 x 6
    6- 16 x 11 x 6

Does that sound about right for a breeding group of 4 adult females,2 adult males and some hatchlings? Let me know what you think.....I am VERY open to suggestions :)

Except for when I'm in a pinch for space (which seems like all the time) ... I only like to use 2 sizes of tubs.

Your best bet is to use a long narrow tub (like 22x9) or something along those lines for hatchlings and let them grow in there up to about 600 grams. Then move them up to a larger tub. I use CB-70's for adults which are like 33x17 or something like that.

In my experience, the mid size tubs are really a waste of time and space because you're only going to get a couple of hundred grams out of them and that can be as quick as 3 or 4 months.

Also, moving tubs can sometimes cause a short fast so when you're raising up babies, you want to move them as little as possible. 1 tub change is much better than 2.

And remember … low ceilings … 5 – 6 inches is plenty of height!!!

Thanks for that Adam. Last night I was about to go on a tub shopping spree....but then I figured I would post here first to get any suggestions. I am glad I did not waste my money on some stuff I dont need.

I already have 4-Sterilite 1960's (which are pretty much identical to the CB-70's) in my rack setup now. I keep the two BPs(550 g and 750 g) that I have in the 1960's and I have the other two empty (but awaiting new arrivals :D). I guess I will cross out the mid size tubs and just build (or buy) a seperate rack for bps under 600 grams. Have any good info on where to get a some good 22 x 9 tubs?

    www.reptiletubs.com

Check out the PL series, the PL-W3 are the exact same tubs used in freedom breeder baby racks ... Perfect for hatchlings thru 600ish grams!
