curious about morph and sad news.
So i recently had the eggs my lesser produced a few months back hatch. it was a very strange breeding season. so to start form the beginning. This female lesser was sold to me after already having locked with a male lesser. at the time she was lumpy. 2 months go by and she slims right down. i thought she was reabosrbing the eggs. so i paired her up with a lemonblast once. and left her alone. 4 months later she produces. 2 eggs. and 2 days after that she lays 5 more. the first 2 eggs she ignored. but i put them in the incubator anyways. another 2 eggs. rolled out of the clutch. and she abandoned the last 3 for a drink of water. thats when i took them and placed them, all in the incubator. 4 of the eggs molded over time. 1 didn't finish gestating. and the final 2 were born deformed. the first dieing the following morning. the last little baby is deformed at the end of the tail. but is still currently alive and well. I'll continue to monitor for the time being and i hope it survives.

as for the morphs. the 1st. baby that never made it out of the egg looked like a super pastel. and the 2 that did hatch deformed are not something i have seen form the above pairings. any ideas would help.

is mom just a lesser or pastel lesser cause if she is just a lesser no possibility of a super pastel
as for what the others were could have been retained sperm

A Lemon Blast can't have "some Super Pastel in him". Incomplete dominant genes, like Pastel, are like being pregnant. Either they are there or they aren't.

To add to this, it doesn't matter if he is a Super Pastel anyway. Without mom having Pastel, getting Super Pastels in the clutch is impossible.

It doesn't matter if the male is super pastel he can not pass on two copies of the gene he can only pass one.

Sorry about the little one, I hope that tail doesn't keep him from being able to poop. Good luck.

well I'm not sure where it came form then. like i said i don't recognize the morph i posted. it doesn't match any of the combinations that i can tell that should result from a lesser to lesser or a lesser to lemon blast. the closest i can find in the morph list is a platty daddy but that wouldn't make any sense from the combo. unless the lesser's were het for something.

You need to let it shed a few times before you can identify it, the colors aren't in yet.

ya him going to the bath room is my biggest concern right now. he hatched yesterday. and has really dry skin. I'm still waiting for first shed. the other problem with this one is his yolk sac was causing him distress so it was cut off early. the one that was left attached to the yolk sac died this morning. one other concern i have is he seems to be curious but i cant tell if he can properly see or if he can smell. i haven't seen a tongue come out yet. and his eyes are so dark i cant see any pupils yet. I'm wondering if this problem arose from one of the parents genetics. like i know your not supposed to cross 2 spiders due to a deformity in the lungs. i wonder if something similar has occurred here. it'll be another 2 years now until i try to breed her again.

ah ok. i'll keep that in mind. how long should i wait for the rest of the umbilical chord to fall off.
