Temp Gun Question.

This may sound dumb, but will a temp gun read through the glass or do I need to actually take the lid off the enclosure and try room aim it into her huts? (Kinda hard because it says to hold it 14.5 inches away and the openings to her huts face the front of the tank.... there's not 14 inches to get the gun between her hut and the inside front wall.

I just ordered an "Etekcity Infrared IR Thermometer No Contact Instant Read Temperature Gun" from Amazon.

I think if you point it at the glass, then the temperature from the glass is what you will see.

With my temp gun I don't see much difference between 2 inch and 15 inch

Pointing at the glass you will either be getting the glass temperature OR whatever surface it is reflecting off of the glass too.
