    Light options for T8
Going place a order for a T8 this week and want to get everything perfect. I was looking at having them do their white LED's for the tank but thought should I do another light as well for the night? Maybe try and find a led strip of purple lights for night? Curious on what everyone else has done.

Also if you can please post pics of you enclosure with the lights!

Do they have white LEDs? I thought they just had blue and red. White light is good for cage cleaning, but not good for night viewing. I went with the red LED and have been happy with them - allow you to see in the enclosure at night and don't disturb the snake.

Wait, are we talking about ball pythons? I don't think they like any light at all. I have my snakes in tubs, no lights. They are thriving. Their natural habitat is in a burrow under a termite mound, I doubt they ever see the light of day.

I had AP install the white LED strips in all my T10s. Works out great. They are clean, flush and the cord is routed out the back top in a nice routed channel so you can stack cages easily. I would say definitely spring for the extra $40 and have them install them. They offer white, blue or red. The white isn't really that bright. Enough to give the cage a nice light but not overpowering. I have them all on a timer. I don't use any other light for the cages.

I had them cut the channels for their LEDs and then put my own dimmable color changing strips in them. Remote operated, way more colors than I need, 16' long strip. Got them on eBay for I think $15. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d145f6d8bd.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...0252e9931d.jpg
The light in the room is off but this is my double stack of t8s with the red light and "white". Kinda blue ish because it's red, green, blue all shining at once to make white. I love em though. Way nice to have the option not change color as needed and it's on a remote

Jmcrook- I like your light set up! Did you have to measure out the LED lightening to have the rip a channel or is it a standard size? How much of the 16' did you use?

BPGator- yes they have white/blue/red to pick from.

I was contemplating doing white and red but that's $80 and I can go the route jncrook did for way cheaper.

They cut the channel for an 8mm strip which if you're ordering your own lights will translate to 3528 LEDs. They charge $10/cage to cut the channel for you. I used maybe half of the 16' strip between both cages. I actually ordered 2 light sets and have way more than I need. Could have gotten one set and then an extra power source, remote sensor, and connecting pins and gotten away even cheaper than I did. Look on my profile to see better pics of how the lights come out the top of the cage.

Just checked it out, looks good! What RHP do you have? Is the front of the cage a dead spot for light or does it travel out to front?

I've got pro heat PH3 65 watt panels. The front of the cage gets lit pretty well even with the lights being in the rear 6" of the cage top.
