To Breed or Not to Breed

So I've recently acquired a mojave female. And the person said they had just paired her with a mystic potion. So I'm wondering, should I hold off on getting her a male, or should I get a male and breed her with him throughout the season?

My male options are a yb/enchi, and possibly a banana/?? that I'm going to get at NARBC this weekend.

One pairing does not mean she will end up gravid. So if you want to breed next season get a male now and get to quarintining him (and her for that matter since she's new). You might end up with eggs from the potion you might not. Good luck!

If you do get a male and breed it's possible to have eggs fathered from both males and get a mixed clutch. Lots of people do that, have several males to one female and get a mixed batch of babies.

How recent is recently? Realistically, before you think of breeding, you should think of quarantine. I recommend a minimum of a 6 month period for any new animal entering my group. If a new animal enters the quarantine room, it resets all in it to Day zero and the quarantine period starts.

Aftrr that animal has went through quarantine with a clean bill of health, then think of pairing it.

Remember that because an animal has bred means nothing in regard to fertilization or even sperm storage. Also, because a seller tells you it bred, accept that with a pinch of salt. It's a common sellers tactic I have seen used over the last 20 years when selling adult females.

Quarantine first then let her tell you what she wants to do. By that I mean watch for signs of her building and wanting to "go". If you palpate her and feel decent follicle growth and you have the means to incubate and raise hatchling then go for it
