Has anyone ever tried to reuse Reptichip?

I saw on a forum that they said you can reuse it. Seems like probably the only reusable snake bedding? Just pick out the poop and do several soaks and rinses? If it is actually reusable you could save a ton of money.

Bacteria is not something you can simply rinse out with water ;)

Doesn't really look reusable to me. Maybe they meant in the sense that you can scoop out the soiled part and change it without having to empty it all and replace (though I'd say you should still do that fairly often).

Since it's super absorbent and holds humidity, that means it's also going to absorb whatever wastes your snake puts out...

Seems like if you soaked it the contaminants leech out, maybe soak it in antibacterial solution. I may experiment on a little bit.

I would not take a chance and end up with bacterial RI, just not worth it to me.

I'm thinking they meant reuse it as compost for your garden.

Why would you gamble on your animals?
I would see a rinse an bake but then as soon as you rehydrate it you might just reactivate anything that the baking didn't kill.

I was just curious, one guy said that the instructions on the bag said that you can reuse it. I didn't actually read the bag and wasn't sure if that was common practice, sounded a bit fishy to me too. I used to use sand as a substrate back when I didn't know what I was doing LOL and I would wash it and bake it out in the oven. Probably can't get Reptichip hot enough to kill bacteria without burning it up.

There's really no reason to reuse it. It's cheap enough to just replace
