If you want answers and views creating an new thread is the best way to go.
When someone answer an old thread or question someone that has not posted in years it's not about rules it's about common sense.
Do people think that someone still need an answer to their question 5 years later?
Do they think that someone who has not participated in 3 years will suddenly comeback and answer their questions?
To be honest I always appreciate it when people answer questions which might be yeeears old or add important information, provided it's a more general question than "my BP won't eat". Like, if it's a more specific and peculiar question instead.
Could always happen that someone else tries to google something weird, and stumbles across that particular thread from six years ago! In that case they wouldn't care if the final answer and the question are 6 years apart :) The original poster might not see it, but that random person found their answer ― Sure happened to me once or twice!
