349g BP Vs Small Rat???

Can a 349 gram BP handle a small rat?

As long as the rat isn't bigger than the largest part of the snake you're fine.

If you're doing live, I would make sure you monitor the feeding so you avoid your snake getting injured.

In the long run it may be cheaper for you to switch to F/T. I'm not sure if the pre-killed is or if you're killing before you give it to him, just another suggestion in case though.

I've decided the rat was too big. So I'm not going to feed her. I actually do buy them live the kill them. She won't eat FT yet. I tried FT at first but she wouldn't eat them so now I'm doing pre-kill to see if this will help. She eats everytime I offer unless it's FT. If I do FT she won't eat it but soon as I put a live or pre-killed she immediately attacks as if she were a parana that smelled blood.

I had a 350g female and I fed her a small / almost medium rat last month and she killed/swallowed it like a champ although the rat was a hair or two larger than her.

I feed rats that are bigger than the width of the snake, probably about up to 50% bigger. They can handle it, it's amazing what they can eat. You should look up some videos on YouTube and you'll be shocked at what they can pound down.

How do you thaw your frozen thawed? The temp needs to be perfect. I thaw overnight in a fridge and then put in an incubator at 110F for an hour or so, works great. Just don't get it so hot that you cook the rodent LOL. I like fresh killed best because if they don't eat it you can freeze it for later. When I thaw my fresh killed within a couple weeks you can't even tell that it was ever frozen.

That exactly what my current situation was my girl is 349g and the rat that I gave her was way beyond her largest part of her body but she handle it like it wasn't nothing! I think people should stop underestimating the ability to eat larger prey. My girl is a beast.

I totally agree with the part about them being able to eat way much larger prey. Specially after tonight. Idk why people understand estimate them by long shot. They say 10% or 15% of their body weight but I strongly disagree with that. When I unthaw the rat I let it sit over night in the fridge then let it sit out the next day until night at room temperature then I warm it with a blow dryer and heating the head to 105 degrees. The rat scent don't be as strong as the pre-killed ones.

I take them out, place them in a ziploc bag, leave out for 4-5 hours, then I use hottest water from tap in a big pot, I place a cup full of water on top of the ziploc to hold it under. Once the water is lukewarm I take out and then I place them on a saucer I use strictly for feeding, I take a hair dryer and I use that to heat the rodents to a warmer state as well as scent the room. Never had any issues doing this.
