Mealworm Sources ? ?

If you had an option to buy locally raised meal worms instead of getting your supply from a box store or online, would you do it?

I've been raising a colony for a local wildlife center all summer and now that baby bird / bat season is over, I have and excess but don't want to interrupt the colony as it is really productive. I don't know what I would charge or anything yet since I don't even know if there would be a market. Thoughts?

Advertise them locally on Facebook, just price them a bit under the retail/shipped price if you need to move them fast.

People who keep chickens may also be interested.

No particular need to get rid of them, just thought it might be a good way to make an extra bit of cash each month. So far I have around 10,000 worms and maybe 100 beetles. I have a few sets of steralite 3-drawer bins and am planing on putting a colony in each. I figure even if I can't find a large market for them, I can feed them off to birds this winter. Keep it going until spring when the demand picks back up. They are super easy to raise so it's not a hassle at all. Much easier than rat colonies ;)
