    Shed Question
Do a bps eyes always go blue or milky before a shed? This is our second shed with our girl. The first time she hid for 2-3 days straight and when she came out finally, she had a pink belly and blue eyes.

This time, she's had a pink belly for about 3 days but so far no blue or milky eyes. She's not as active as normal but not hiding for days on end like last time, I think because she can see this time.

We have added damp moss and spray her tank every time it drops below 70% so it spikes up to 80% and slowly falls. Just curious if the opaque eyes happen every time or not always.

Their eyes become milky for a few days, and then clear up for a couple more days right before the shed. So eyes won't be milky all the way up to the shed.

Either you might have just missed the milky eyes phase, or are you sure she's going to shed? There can be other reasons for a pink belly, not necessarily shedding.

Agreed with Red. Pink belly makes me think burn, not shedding.
If she likes to burrow down in the substrate there is a chance she could be burning her belly. :(

Sounds like you're doing a great job keeping her humidity levels perfect! I sometimes miss my BP's milky eye phase, especially Graeae my Ghost Pastel. She hides in her warm hide for a day or two before her shed and gets quite the attitude lol!!

She can't burn herself because I've got a thermostat on her uth and the hottest it ever gets on the top of the glass is 91 and that's rare. It's usually around 89-90.

I had her out a day or two before she went pink and there was no milkiness to her eyes. We are on day 4 of pink belly and hiding a lot more than normal but still no blue eyes. When she's not in shed, her humidity is at 50% and I mist her once a day so it spikes to 60%. SO, it's not scale rot from moist bedding either.

As soon as we saw the pink we added the Moss and are misting 3x a day to keep it at 70%.

It's just odd that there are no blue eyes... her last shed was 6 days from when we noticed her blue eyes until we saw the skin, (but we missed 2-3 days because she was hiding,) so I'd say about 9 days total. This time, we are on day 4 and just pink belly... that's it. I've seen thermal burns online. Her belly is the same pink it was last shed. It's not burned. It goes a little bit up her sides too, so I can tell it's not a burn, but the pink hue before a shed. Someone said it's possible her eye caps shed already??

The longer I have Malfoy, I think I am notocing signs of shed sooner (so far he is still on a 2 month schedule). I think I noticed so early this last time, it was practically 3 weeks before he finally shed.

So it could still be a while for her eyes, even with a pink belly?

I often notice my pied's belly get pink well before his eyes cloud up. His belly's so white that it's hard to miss. The amount of clouding also seems to vary from shed to shed, so it may be that the eye clouding is still coming, or that it's just not as bad this time around.

    Oh, ok. Thanks.

We lifted her hut today (she's been hiding,) and her colours are definitely dull. Her eyes aren't blue or milky but they are dull as well. I've heard the eye phase can be as short as 6 hours, so maybe we missed it. Or, maybe it's not as bad this time. We will keep up her humidity and hope for a good shed. :) I always miss her when she's shedding. I miss giving her snake cuddles.

Definitely shedding. Big ol blue eyes started yesterday.

    Thanks for the responses. :)
