    RHP Temp Setting
So I'm setting up my T8. I've got a Pro Heat RHP on a Herpstat. I'm letting it heat up and am noticing the temp on my RB hide is at over 100°F (with a heat gun) but the surrounding temp is still in the 80's. Should I change my temp setting to ensure the hide surface temp doesn't exceed 95°F?

It will take a bit of futzing around to get the temps dialed in just right. I spent a day or two monitoring and tweaking mine before I got 90* under the panel on the floor and 80* ambient. Where do you have the Herpstat probe in the cage? Mine is fed through the same channel as the RHP cord and hangs halfway down the height of the cage. Congrats on the new setup!

I've got the Herpstat probe on-center with the panel, against the back wall on the substrate. What type of hide do you have and is your surface temp on the hide 90°F too?

I've got exo terra hides. Don't have a temp gun currently so I can't verify the temp on the top of the hide but the probe is about 5" from the hide at the same height and set at 87*, not directly under the panel however. Just hanging directly under the routed channel for the RHP cord that AP cuts to install the panel.

The top of my reptile basics hides were over 100 when it first was going through the process of heating up bc the rhp was on full power but after a couple hours it cooled down and the top of hide is 91, inside hide is 88 and the ground around hide is 90. Just give it time to adjust and everything should even out.

Yeah, I was noticing that. Now my issue is high humidity. I'm using coco chips as substrate and I'm having issues. Doing what I can to get some ventilation going through there.

I had the same issue. Was using cypress first and had to dry it for a couple days first and keep a fan on it. I had condensation dripping down the doors. I just started using coconut chips and love them because you can add as little or as much water and adjust the humidity a little better. Keeping a light fan near one end of the cage helps a bit too
