Trouble with Coco Husk & Hot Spot

Hello guys,
So I recently switched over to Reptichip (Coco Husk Chips) from carpet and it does wonders for humidity,odors & spot cleaning. However, I'm having allot of trouble getting the belly heat spot in her hide anywhere in the high 80s. Just stays at 83-85. I wanna set the herpstat to 98-100 F to compensate for the heat absorbing chips but worried about her burrowing and burning herself.Will it just reach the high 80s over time? So for anybody that uses this substrate or has any knowledge on the matter, how do you maintain your hotspot at 88-92 with Coco Husk Chips. Thanks for the time. Cheers!

You should take your temperature under the substrate NOT on the surface.
Your snake can and will move substrate as needed.

I have the t stat probe in between the the tank and heat pad and another probe from an accurite thermometer directly on the glass the heat pad is heating. The accurite probe reads 95 but when I take the temperature of the substrate it's 83-84. These dam chips absorb heat like crazy. Would a plastic cage instead of a glass one absorb more heat somehow? Thinking about switching over to Sani chips if this doesn't work out.

You snake will move the bedding if it wants more heat.
Also how thick is your substrate?

I use Reptichip and what I do is actually remove the Reptichip from the back of the tub and place them right on the bottom of the tub and push the chips up around them so they have just one little spot underneath directly on the tub with Reptichips all around them. They figure it out pretty quickly that they can dig right down to the bottom of the tub if they want heat. And the Reptichip moves all over and absorbs everything, don't really have to worry about a mess on the tub in that spot in the back. Works good for me.
