Please take a look at these pictures, Strange mark on my BPs head.
Please try and ignore the glare from the flash that has given a strange shade, i'm referring to the denotation / abrasion looking circular sore located exactly between the nostrils, slightly higher up the snakes head.

I did notice this first after what seemed like a clean shed. The snake is a Piebald male royal python, usually one of my fussy eaters. He has lost a little weight over the last few months but has recently started eating more again.

He is housed in a large RUB, with paper substrate, and im finding it hard to think of anything in his environment that he could have injured himself on.

I'm aware that the ideal solution to anything i'm concerned with is a visit to a vet, however my only reptile vet is a long drive away and i don't want to cause my snake unnecessary stress to my beloved Cupid! (That's his name)

Thanks in advance and i hope to hear back about this mystery marking!

just looks like normal scarring to me, bitten by food or an injury. looks healed, i don't see any concern.

It seemed to come out of nowhere though. He only eats frozen food, and has nothing sharp or pointy in his enclosure.

Could it be in relation to a shedding?

I took the picture today, and the mark is maybe a week or so old, so it may have started to heal now.

He could have scrapped a scale off during shed. Doesn't look like it needs treatment. Just keep an eye on it.

Do you use the lid on your tub?

Pit is most likely correct. Offten when scales come off it is because of some kind of screen the BP has access to. Mesh screen on the tops of viv/aquariums. The second cuprit is often something rough in their enclosure; rocks, hides, logs (the fake ones usually). It's unlikely to be from the enclosure, provided the sides are smooth.

Yes i use a lid on the rub. He has nothing in there pointy, paper substrate and a water bowl (dog bowl style) So i have no idea how he could have done this mystery wound!

Look at the underside of the lid. The little plastic supports. ;)
