BP not eating. help

Hello. I have a female Cinnamon BP who will not eat. She hasn't eaten in the past 2 months. Every Saturday I offer her a f/t adult mouse, but she seems afraid of it. I got her from Tall Grass Reptiles at a Repticon in Nashville about 2 1/2 months ago. She is about 265g and is kept in a 32qt tub.

I have owned BPs for almost 2 years and my other 3 have never done this before.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did she ever take food for you?

What was she fed previously?

Try to downsize the tub even more to a 15 quarts tub, not all animals do well in bigger tubs and sometime a small switch like that can help. Provide TIGHT hides, and temps no higher than 88 on the warm side as well if not done already. Having a substrate in which the animal can bury itself helps also (Aspen, Coconut Chip)

Every animal is different so even if the other were doing fine in the same type of setup does not mean this one does or will.

Ok, I will try a smaller tub. And I think she was being fed live rat pups before I got her.

You should ALWAYS offer the same prey type than what was previously fed to a new animal, switching is never the priority.

You will get better success switching a well established animal that is eating for you than one that is not, and when you switch you go from one prey type to another, than f/t or the opposite but you do one step at the time.

Note: Feeding mice to an animal that eats rats is kind of a step backward IMO, get the animal to eat and than switch to F/T rats if rat was already what the animal was eating.

Rat pups may be tough to find. I would try live mice if you can't find rat pups. I prefer to breed my own rats and feed the pups because it's safer than mice. But you really can't keep a pup alive if they don't eat it, with a mouse you can save them for later if they don't eat. I have three ball pythons that refuse frozen thawed and will instantly take rat pups. Personally I don't feed live mice if I can help it, just too dangerous for the snake.

Still cant understand this thought/statement.....
Properly cared for feeders and monitored feedings have just as much danger as an improperly prepared f/t.

Try changing the food your offering, my bp will eat mice and totally refuses all rats at the moment but she was eating rats before. I suggest trying live pups or heated F/T rats/mice. Just keep trying different sizes and ways of preparing them till yours eats.
