If you buy a ball python online, how do you research the source?
I'm interested in a ball python I found on morph market. Any suggestions on how to research the seller? I've tried simple google searches for reviews, but not finding much, I think it is a small breeder. I am so new to this, and there isn't much local reptile community here, where I could just ask around. Advice?

    Thanks,
    Jaime

There are FB groups and the Fauna BOI you could look into if you haven't already. There is also a feedback/inquiries here if you're so inclined to use it.

Generally speaking, no news is good news when it comes to people making their name in the hobby. You can also ask for references from the seller as well. If nothing else, you will learn a lot from the communication with the seller as to whether or not they are someone you want to do business with.

Best of luck in your search!

Ask here, on the BOI on fauna where you can look up or ask or ask if anyone has had transaction with the seller. In this business there is also a lot of word of mouth as not everyone is active online. There are many small breeders that are well known in the show circuit that do not participate to forums much or aeven t all but yet have great animals and reputation.

Just wanted to pop in and thank you for asking this question. I could stand to improve my own researching skills. I've had nothing but good experiences with morph market, but I had a bad time with a guy outside of it who ran his own website. It looked legit so I didn't think to question it, but then I posted a picture of my new snake and the people here identified that it wasn't the morph I thought I'd purchased.

Learn from my mistake and get as much info as you can before buying! I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else.

That link was SO helpful. Thank you, I am printing it out for reference. I am looking at 2 online breeders, one is Snake Eyes Exotics and one is Supernova Reptiles.
